IW Celebrates Its Volunteers

In commemorating its 50 years of service, Interfaith Works (IW) will host a Volunteer Appreciation Festival on October 15, 2022 at the Bohrer Park Pavillion in Gaithersburg, MD from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

“Our volunteers are the driving force of our work,” Courtney Hall, IW Chief Executive Officer, explained. “The event is our small way of thanking those who have generously shared their time and resources to support our programs through the years.”

Beginning in 1972, volunteerism has been at the heart of the organization’s operations. Founded by a group of faith-based congregations who banded together to help neighbors in need, IW has since expanded to deliver emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment services to over 35,000 Montgomery County residents each year.

More than 7,000 people volunteer for IW’s programs annually.

“As we open new programs to meet expanding needs, I hope many more will take part in our shared mission because it is in working together that we can build a thriving community where the well-being of each person is protected and guaranteed,” Mr. Hall said.

IW volunteers, including their family members and friends, are invited to register for tickets on or before October 10, 2022 here.
