MLK Day 2023

Dr. Martin Luther King Day 2023 was a day filled with joy and excitement, with Maryland Governor Wes Moore and a large group of elected leaders, staff, board, and other supporters coming to volunteer at IW’s programs at Progress Place. The projects included making a lunchtime meal for those living in IW Residences, and giving some of the spaces an upgrade with paint and decals. We are grateful to all who came out to support these projects in affirmation of the message of Dr. King.

In interviews with the media, Gov. Moore affirmed his support for the nonprofit community, saying that nonprofits are “the fabric of our social existence. They are the backbone."

The event was covered by Montgomery Community Media (HERE) and WJLA Channel 7 (HERE).

Earlier in the day, Interfaith Works was honored for outstanding service to the community at the annual IUL Alpha Phi Alpha Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast. Thank you for the recognition!

This amazing day was capped off by the annual Montgomery County Martin Luther King Day Celebration at Strathmore Music Center. Interfaith Works is proud to have been chosen as the beneficiary of the “Fill A Truck” component of the event. Generous donors brought toiletries to create personal care kits for our clients. Thank you!
