Kaldi’s Social House Partners with IW
Tsega Haile, owner of Kaldi’s Social House, explains why he is supporting Interfaith Works (IW) through a fundraiser on Saturday, November 12, at his Silver Spring store.
“My belief is those who give shall receive.” Haile has partnered with several area nonprofits to support them in a similar way. “I believe in giving.”
IW’s commitment to helping people experiencing homelessness and poverty is important, Haile says. “This is a great cause.”
He notes that helping each other is part of the culture in the downtown Silver Spring community.
When his business was suffering during the pandemic, he received emails and calls from residents asking how they could support Kaldi’s so it could survive.
“We saw that friendship and support,” says Haile. “They are always there for us.”
That support also inspires him to try to give back whenever he can.
You can give back, too. Head to Kaldi’s Social House at 918 Silver Spring Avenue for a sandwich and great coffee from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 12 (see the event flyer here).
Thirty percent of all proceeds during that timeslot will support IW’s emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs, which serve over 35,000 Montgomery County clients each year.
Restaurants interested in partnering with IW can contact Phallon Perry, Foundations and Corporate Relations Officer, at pperry@iworksmc.org.
