IW Helps Clients Find Jobs

Interfaith Works (IW) Vocational Services Program (VSP) participated in the Culture Pop Jam Job Fair on September 22, 2022.

Hosted by the Montgomery Westfield Mall, the event was an opportunity for IW staff to broaden its client and partner networks as they promoted the organization’s services.

“We believe in helping families in need find stability and that starts with empowering individuals,” Ms. Donna Gabriel, IW VSP Director, said. She explained that IW vocational counselors work hand-in-hand with clients who are unemployed and underemployed to develop and sustain their life and career skills for self-sufficiency.

Specifically, VSP assists in job hunting, resume development, and interview preparation. It also offers office outfits and suits, as well as access to specialized trainings to make clients more competitive in the job market.

Recently, VSP launched a Paid Training Program which provides stipends to IW clients who are participating in career training programs.

At the job fair, the IW team also advertised for volunteers, particularly those proficient in Spanish and French, to help facilitate the smooth transition of its foreign-speaking clients into the workforce.

In 2022, 277 people received specialized services to help them gain employment. The program plans to serve more than 300 in the coming year.
