IW Names New Director of Homeless Services

Liz Krueger, Interfaith Works Director of Homeless Services

Interfaith Works is proud to announce that Liz Krueger, LCSW-C, MPH, is IW’s new Director of Homeless Services, which provides emergency shelter and supportive housing programs assisting more than 1,900 Montgomery County neighbors each year.

Liz joined the Interfaith Works family in 2012 as a program support staff member at Becky’s House, a residence for senior women, and part-time case manager at IW’s Women’s Center, which provides emergency shelter. She went on to serve multiple IW programs as a case manager, eventually becoming program director of the shelter and supportive housing side of IW Homeless Services programs.

As Director of Homeless Services, Liz will continue to develop and support teams of impassioned advocates for individuals and families navigating systemic barriers to housing.

“I am incredibly excited to step into this role at a time when Interfaith Works is a leader in Montgomery County’s initiative to end homelessness by 2025. I am ready to be creative and take risks as we move beyond just managing homelessness to fight the cycle of poverty and inequitable community practices so that we can prevent it.”

Interfaith Works CEO Courtney Hall said, “We are enormously lucky to have someone of Liz’s skill, experience and compassion guiding our programs to address homelessness. Under her leadership, our Rapid Rehousing team has achieved extraordinary success in helping people move out of the shelter system and into independent living situations. Liz brings knowledge, creativity, and energy to the job. In her years with Interfaith Works, she has been a tireless advocate for our neighbors who are challenged by poverty and homelessness.”

Liz succeeds Christine Hong in the role of Director of Homeless Services. Interfaith Works is deeply grateful to Christine for her many years of service with Interfaith Works, and we congratulate her on her appointment as Chief of Services to End and Prevent Homelessness (SEPH) for Montgomery County, MD.

Liz is a clinical social worker licensed in both Virginia and Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College, a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Public Health from the Medical College of Virginia.  Liz spends her free time raising two bold, adventurous, and social justice-driven daughters with her husband. She loves hiking in Rock Creek Park with her chocolate Lab Scout and is a member of a swim team in Rockville.
