County FY23 Budget Supports Crucial Programs
Interfaith Works is grateful to County Executive Marc Elrich and the Montgomery County Council for approving an FY23 budget that gives strong support to nonprofit organizations and social safety net programs, including services provided by Interfaith Works. Key provisions will:
Increase nonprofit contracts by 8%, an acknowledgment of the difficult work that nonprofits have undertaken during the pandemic and the increased demand for our services. During the pandemic, the number of neighbors served by IW doubled from 17,000 to 35,000. During that time, we opened a new shelter, started a food distribution program, and launched a new supportive housing program.
Secure much-needed funding for the Clothing Center and the Vocational Services Center, which helps us to stabilize our operations and expand the number of people we will serve.
