Statement on Shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs

A Statement from Courtney Hall, Interfaith Works Chief Executive Officer

Our hearts are broken as we grieve for the victims of the horrific acts of violence at Club Q in Colorado Springs, a place known for providing a culture of acceptance and love. We also grieve for the victims’ families and friends.

At IW, we, too, are committed to providing a welcoming culture of open doors and open hearts to all, so this horrifying act is difficult to process. It hits particularly hard as we are about to open the doors of the IW New Leaf Shelter, our newest facility that welcomes clients of all genders.

IW’s core values include compassion, social justice, and respect. With those in mind, despite our sadness and grief, we will work to honor the memory of those tragically lost in Colorado and elsewhere by recommitting ourselves to acts that build bridges of understanding, inclusion, and peace.

We will continue to provide safe and inclusive spaces for those we serve and for those we employ. We also commit to actively confronting ignorance, violence, and prejudice.
