Statement on Buffalo Tragedy

Our hearts are broken as we grieve for the victims of the horrific act of racism and gun violence in Buffalo and for their families and friends. Through providing safe spaces for our colleagues to talk about how they have been affected, we know that this act of terror has evoked strong feelings of sadness, anger, frustration, fear, and vulnerability within our staff and our community.

IW’s core values include compassion, social justice, and respect. With those in mind, despite our sadness and grief, we will work to honor the memory of those tragically lost by recommitting ourselves to acts that build bridges of understanding. We also commit to confronting ignorance and racism actively and unflinchingly. We will not be silent, nor will we tolerate acts or words of hate and violence against any group or individual.
