Meeting the Moment Together
As we continue to live in a time of great uncertainty, our circumstances can feel deeply troubling and make perseverance difficult. How do we move forward? In these daunting times, our inspiration is right in front of us - our vibrant community and the many opportunities to work together toward a more just world. There’s a common phrase we use at IW: “a rising tide lifts all boats.” We use this as a model for ourselves and our work with clients but also extend this idea outward to encompass the broader community. While many circumstances are beyond our control, we can still choose our response and actively support those around us – our neighbors who are in the greatest need. When our neighbors’ lives improve, our entire community benefits.
Over the past few months, we have hosted and participated in several events around the county. We’ve facilitated community conversations to discuss matters like affordable housing and food insecurity. We hosted our 2nd Annual Faith and Community Partnerships Community Forum. People from across the County came to learn, discuss, and pledge to continue moving towards greater economic equity for all. These events represent one of several ways IW is remaining in the fight. But we cannot do this work alone. We need your partnership.
These are challenging times for all of us. Every day, we witness the effects of harmful policies on our neighbors. But we refuse to be discouraged. We see new opportunities to partner with our donors, our volunteers, and our clients so we can meet this moment together. I hope you will continue to meet the moment with us.
Help our neighbors thrive in the face of adversity. Support Interfaith Works and our partnering organizations in whatever way you can. Donate a meal to clients in shelter, spend an afternoon sorting donations at the Clothing Center, or simply talk to a loved one about the challenges that are facing the most vulnerable. We can only move forward together; we hope you will meet us there.
