IW Wins Grand Prize from Automotive Business Competition
Interfaith Works (IW) recently was awarded $10,000 from a philanthropic business headquartered in Frederick, MD. This generous award will support IW’s vital programs to help our neighbors find pathways to stability.
In celebration of the company’s 35th anniversary, WLR Automotive Group launched the “Share Your Love” campaign, inviting supporters to vote online for their favorite nonprofits. Thanks to a tremendous network of support, IW won the contest by receiving the most votes. IW and five other nonprofits who placed highest in their individual categories (animal welfare, armed forces, community service & education, environment, and mental health & disability services) received their awards at a celebratory dinner in Frederick earlier this month.
WLR’s 35th anniversary was the impetus to give away a total of $35,000 to worthy nonprofits. WLR CEO and President Randall S. Simpson said that while running a successful business is important, “at the end of the day our real purpose is to give back to the community.” He added, “I am proud of not only our growth in business but our progress in embracing a great value system. We have a culture of giving at WLR, and it shows in how we treat each other, our customers, and our neighbors.”
IW CEO Courtney Hall said, “It’s a pleasure to be recognized by a business that shares so many values with Interfaith Works. Partnership is what makes a big impact in helping our neighbors. WLR is a committed partner in investing in positive change and bringing awareness to the struggles that many of our clients face, despite living in an affluent community.” He noted, “We also give great thanks to our incredible community supporters, who made this award possible by voting for us.”
