A Fond Farewell!
Interfaith Works is saying a bittersweet goodbye to one of our dedicated volunteers! Darren began working as a volunteer at the Essential Needs Center in the fall of 2021. Darren was an incredible help to our staff and fellow volunteers during the pandemic and did his part to ensure that our clients and their families received access to free food and clothing. Darren was often joined by his mother to assist in providing food and care for our clients and their families. We are so appreciative to them both for choosing to work with us. Darren helped thousands of families with his work, and always brought a smile to the faces of those around him.
Mike Grant, Program Manager at the IW Food Pantry reports, “He brightened everyone's day with his friendly demeanor. You could hear him welcoming every family with a big friendly shout of ‘BUENOS DIAS!’ to every family. He made our clients feel extra welcome during a critical time for everyone.”
Darren’s work in IW’s Clothing Center and Food Pantry might be over, but his impact will be remembered for years to come. Miranda Marks, Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator at the IWCC remarks, “Darren brought a lot of enthusiasm to the center and was always ready to pitch in wherever he could. He was always singing ‘I Want it That Way,’ which brought a smile to lots of faces.”
Darren is now able to return to his full-time job, and we will miss him greatly. Congratulations on a job well done Darren -- our clients, our staff, and volunteers are so grateful for your help!
