Taking Steps Together - A Letter from the CEO

Recently, one of our treasured long-time volunteers was collecting toiletry donations at a local grocery store. She was approached by *Maria, who shared that IW helped her and her family with clothes and food. When Maria’s husband died and she was facing eviction, IW helped her family with rental assistance. She was incredibly grateful to IW and was compelled to donate toiletries. IW was there for her when she needed it and, with her donation, she was able to be there for others.

This story deeply reminded me that no matter where we are in our journey, we can always help someone else get to a better place. At Interfaith Works, we aim to meet each person where they are, and it is so empowering to know that Maria could help someone else once she was further along her path to stability.

This month we begin our ‘Taking Steps Together Today’ campaign to garner support to meet the unique needs of each person we have the privilege of serving. We can best support each other by working together. Our community is dealing with many crises. To help us address some of the more specific barriers faced by our neighbors, we ask that you support the IW Future Fund on Giving Tuesday. These funds are provided to clients like Maria who need an extra bit of help to remove a barrier so they can continue to move forward.

I am especially pleased to announce that our partners at Curbio have committed to matching all Giving Tuesday donations 1:1 up to a total of $30,000. Curbio has renovated one of our homes and has been a great long-term partner to IW. We are so grateful and excited for this opportunity.

I am always in awe of how our neighbors come together to support one another, and this season is no different. Sometimes we are able to give and sometimes we are only in a position to receive. No matter where you find yourself, we know that by working together we can all help our neighbors find a path to greater stability.
